Owairoa Primary School recently held its exciting Senior School Cross Country event for Year 5 and Year 6 students. This annual tradition brings together young athletes to showcase their endurance, determination, and school spirit. It was a fantastic day of outdoor activity and friendly competition.

The cross country course was challenging but fun, winding its way around the school grounds. Students had to navigate different terrains, including grassy fields and paths. This variety made the run interesting and tested the runners’ abilities to adapt to different surfaces.

Both boys and girls from Years 5 and 6 took part in the event with great enthusiasm. Dressed in their school colours and sports gear, the students were ready to give their best effort. Some ran with determination to win, while others focused on completing the course and supporting their classmates.

One of the most impressive aspects of the day was the excellent sportsmanship displayed by all participants. Students cheered each other on, offering words of encouragement to their peers. This positive attitude created a wonderful atmosphere of support and camaraderie.

The event wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of the school staff and parent volunteers. They helped mark the course and ensured the safety of all runners. Their dedication made the day run smoothly and enjoyably for everyone involved.

The Senior School Cross Country event at Owairoa Primary School was a great success. It not only promoted physical fitness but also brought the school community together. The students’ efforts and positive attitudes were truly inspiring, making it a memorable day for all involved. Well done to all the Year 5 and 6 participants.
