Exploring, Celebrating and Creating

It’s been a busy and exciting Term 2 for our Year 1 and 2 learners, full of hands-on learning and even welcoming special visitors.

In Science and ISTEAM, students have been exploring the world of animals.  They have classified animal groups, looked at animal features and life cycles.  Many classes have been designing and building their own animal habitats, combining creativity with scientific thinking. From desert scenes to jungle environments, it has been wonderful to see students thinking about what animals need to survive and how different habitats meet those needs. The children have enjoyed planning, constructing, and sharing their creations with others.

This term we were also lucky to host a visit from our local firefighters for our Firewise programme. Students learned about fire safety, the role of firefighters in our community, and what to do in an emergency. Students were excited to learn about the firefighters uniform and the different equipment used

During Week 5, we proudly celebrated Samoan Language Week. The children took part in cultural activities, learned simple Samoan phrases, and explored traditional songs, stories, and dances. It was a fantastic opportunity to build understanding and respect for the rich cultural diversity within our school.

Wheels Day was a definite highlight for all the students. There were bikes, scooters, roller skates and remote-control cars, just to name a few types of wheels. The weather held off for children to show off their speed and skills. Many have asked for this to be a regular on our school calendar.

We ended the term on a high note with a “White Theme” disco! Dressed in white and glowing under the disco lights, the students had a blast dancing with their friends and celebrating all their hard work. A big thank you to the PTA, along with our wonderful parent and teacher helpers, for making these special occasions possible.

Although it has been a short term with a few long weekends in the mix there was a lot of fun and learning packed in. We look forward to welcoming our students back for Term 3 after a well-deserved holiday.
