Grandparents Day and Shake Out Success

What a wonderful start we have had for Term 4! We held our Grandparent and Special Person Day which was a huge success, filled with smiles, laughter and special memories. The classrooms buzzed with excitement as children proudly shared their learning spaces with their loved ones. Together, everyone enjoyed crafts activities, games, interviews and a lively concert, showcasing our students’ talent and creativity. It was heart-warming to see so many grandparents and special people joining in the fun, connecting across generations and celebrating the joy of learning together.

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day so special – the children were absolutely thrilled to share their world with you!

Our students also took part in the nationwide ShakeOut earthquake drill. At exactly 9.30 am, the signal sounded, and our tamariki confidently practiced the ‘Drop, Cover and Hold’ procedure. Their calm and responsible attitude showed just how well-prepared they were.

Practising earthquake safety is a vital part of keeping our school community safe. While we hope we never need to use these skills in a real situation, it is important that everyone knows what to do – and our students showed amazing awareness and responsibility throughout the drill. Families can continue the conversation at home by talking about your household emergency plan – visit the official ShakeOut website (getready.govt.nz/shakeout) for some tips and fun activities for children.

We are proud of how staff and students alike took part, keeping a positive and encouraging spirit. It’s reassuring to know that our young leaners are not only developing their academic skills but also their understanding of how to keep themselves and others safe. What a fantastic example of learning, caring and community in action!
