Wild About the Living World

Middle School students have been enjoying learning about animals as part of our Living World unit. They’ve explored life cycles, focusing closely on butterflies and other creatures, and were fascinated by the transformation that occurs during metamorphosis.

As they investigated how animals are classified as vertebrates and invertebrates, students learned what characteristics define each group, and discovered where humans fit in. They also found out that humans are omnivores, and explored the differences between carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores.

Hands-on activities, such as observing insect specimens and sorting animals into groups, helped reinforce their understanding in a fun and interactive way. These experiences sparked curiosity and led to many thoughtful questions and discussions.

We’re excited to continue our journey by investigating different habitats and exploring how humans can impact and protect various environments.
