From Monday 1st June to Friday 5th June, our Middle School celebrated Samoan Language Week with lots of learning, teamwork, and creativity. It was a wonderful chance for learners to explore Samoan language, culture, and traditions while showing respect for the rich heritage of Samoa.

One of the highlights of the week was a classroom scavenger hunt. Learners worked in teams to search for facts and answers to the questions on their puzzle pieces. This activity encouraged everyone to think carefully, communicate clearly, and work together. Once they had found all the answers, the teams collaborated to put the pieces together and build a large class puzzle. This was a great way to strengthen teamwork, problem-solving, and knowledge of Samoa.

Learners also explored the importance of Samoan language week and why it matters to celebrate languages and cultures in our school community. They learned that language is a powerful way to connect with identity, family, and heritage. Throughout the week, learners showed curiosity and respect as they discovered more about Samoa’s people, customs, and values.

In addition to their language learning, learners created a beautiful siapo turtle collage. Inspired by traditional Samoan art, the collage gave learners the chance to be creative while learning about cultural patterns and designs. The finished artwork was colourful, meaningful, and a lovely celebration of Samoan culture.

Overall, Samoan Language Week was a special time of learning, creativity, and connection. Our learners showed great enthusiasm and pride as they celebrated the beauty of Samoan culture.
