We have had two very busy and exciting weeks in our classrooms. In Science, we have been learning about the three states of matter: solids, liquids and gases. We explored the properties of each state and discussed how matter can change when it is heated or cooled. We also learned how to conduct fair tests so that our results were accurate and reliable.
Last week, each class had the opportunity to use an EPro8 kit to construct a bridge. Some groups took a little longer to get started, but they persevered and made excellent progress. By the end of the activity, the children had learned how to connect the different pieces, solve problems and cooperate effectively as a team.
We also celebrated Maths Week with a variety of fun and engaging activities. The children made predictions and then completed investigations to test whether their ideas were correct. They enjoyed discussing their results and discovering whether their predictions matched what actually happened. There were also plenty of fun times on our devices as the children played maths games and practised their number facts, improving both their speed and accuracy.
The Year 5 and 6 speech finals were another highlight of our week. All the finalists spoke clearly and confidently in front of an audience. Congratulations to Stella S, who won the speech competition with her outstanding presentation! We are very proud of everyone who participated.
This week, we have also been preparing for International Day by making flags to represent our chosen countries. The classrooms are becoming bright and colourful, and we are looking forward to celebrating the many cultures represented in our school.
