This term the senior classes have been exploring wellbeing through the Mitey programme as part of Health and Physical Education. The focus has been on helping children understand themselves and learn what it means to be a good friend. We have been connecting this learning to our school’s RISE values: Respect, Integrity, Self-Esteem, and Excellence.
Students have been practising important skills that help build a positive classroom community. These include being kind, keeping hands to ourselves, listening actively when others speak, and showing respect for our environment. We also encourage a “try, try, try” attitude so students feel confident to keep learning, even when something feels challenging.
A key message we discuss regularly is that our school has zero tolerance for bullying. Instead, we focus on supporting one another and creating a safe, caring place where everyone feels valued. By learning these skills, students are building the foundations for strong friendships and positive relationships both inside and outside the classroom.
